| Asthma is a chronic condition that occurs when airways become inflamed and respond to irritating substances or allergens by narrowing. When this happens, less air reaches your lungs. Asthma is more likely to appear during childhood, but it can first show up in your 50s, 60s, or even later. About 30 percent of asthma cases in adults are allergy-related. People with cat allergies are especially vulnerable. |
